Aspiria is proud to announce its new partnership with Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology to provide a SAP to its combined 14,000 student population, effective September 1st, 2011. This milestone marks the first time that Aspiria has ventured into Student Assistance Programs and we are excited that we were chosen to provide the very best in SAP services to the students of Durham and UOIT.
With our experience providing EAPs in the education sector to institutions such as Confederation College in Thunder Bay and Nipissing University in North Bay, this decision confirms that Aspiria is the provider of choice because of our responsiveness, quality, passion, integrity.
It is with great personal pride and gratitude that I share with you that on Thursday, August 4th, 2011, Aspiria helped its 10,000th client through our Employee Assistance Program. It is very gratifying for me to know that we have touched and transformed so many lives since the company was established in 2004. This could not have been accomplished without the incredible team at Aspiria, many of whom have been with the company since its inception. As one of our Directors recently commented, “these are people with heart working for the betterment of others”. As well, I wish to thank our clients for the trust and confidence they have in Aspiria that enables them to share their personal and organizational lives. It is a priviledge that none of us at Aspiria take for granted.
Yours Truly,

Last Friday, the world witnessed a shocking and devastating event unfold in Japan. With a 9.0 magnitude earthquake taking place not far off the north east shores of Japan, an unprecedented tsunami following only 30 minutes later, hundreds of aftershocks, and now the real threat of nuclear disaster looming, it is time for all of us to do what we can to help our brothers and sisters in this time of need.
During the tsunami of 2004, I was living in Thailand at the time and I experienced firsthand the utter devastation an event like this can unleash. In addition to the terrible loss of life, there are the struggles that remain for the survivors and the nation as a whole. Newly made orphans will need food and clothes, communities will need to be rebuilt, and the collective consciousness of a nation will need to be mended. All of this will require money.
Aspiria has made a donation to the Canadian Red Cross to help support our friends in Japan. We can all help in our own way. If you would like to make a donation, simply go to http://www.redcross.ca and look for Japan Earthquake/Asia-Pacific Tsunami Fund.
It is when incidents such as these take place that I am reminded how lucky we all are to live where we do. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan in the days, weeks, and months ahead as they face the challenges that await them.

Aspiria is proud to sponsor to the Employee Assistance Program Association of Toronto’s upcoming seminar called “Leadership Magic – An Exploration of Influence, Connection, & Empowerment”.
Special Guest Dam Trommater isn’t your ordinary miracle worker. During this informative and most entertaining session, Dan will show you how leaders can enhance relationships and lead more effectively by applying the philosophy and tactics of professional magicians.
A good leader must be able to influence a team toward a common goal. Without the support and buy-in of the team, even the best-laid plans are destined for failure.
Magicians are masters of influence. Using physical tenchiques and psychological principles, exper magicians can create an atmosphere where anything is possible. The expert leader can put these same techniques and mindsets to work in order to empower a team and influence them for a common good.
This session will help you:
- get different perspectives on the people and issues in your organization
- approach problems from new angles
- question and challenge your assumptions
- build better relationships
- redefine what’s possible
- examine the power dynamics within your organization
Audience members will get an insider’s view into the thinking behind world-class magic and see how magicians work with the audience to create an experience of wonder. They will then apply the tactics and philosophy to their own leadership challenges in order to create better connections in order to influence and empower their teams.
Dan Trommater has over 12 years experience working with organizations that want a unique approach to leadership and change. His uniqueness comes from his use of magic to reinforce and illustrate key ideas and concepts critical to leaders (no matter where they are in the organization). Audiences are engaged and entertained by the magic, but it’s the powerful ideas that Dan communicates that they’ll remember (and put to use) long after the session has ended.
This session qualifies for 1 CE credit. Certificate of Attendance available at the registration table upon request.

On Sunday, August 29th, Aspiria participated in the Ontario Police Curling Association’s annual charity golf tournament. This tournament is special to Aspiria, since the OPCA is a proud supporter of the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada. As you may know, Aspiria is also a supporter of the Tourette Foundation (You can click on the link to their website on our homepage to find out more). I have been a member of the Board of Directors for the Tourette Syndrome Foundation for the past 5 years, and it is wonderful to have the opportunity to give back to our community. The golf tournament was a huge success with over 100 golfers sweating it out in tropical conditions! All proceeds raised from the various activities are donated to the Foundation.
It is with great excitement and pride that I welcome you to the new Aspiria website!
While our very first website had augured well for us in informing our audience who the new EAP kid on the block was, in recent months we have made important changes to our programs that have reshaped our corporate branding while maintaining our core identity. Thanks to you, our valued clients and business associates, we have incorporated your ideas into our new website which we believe you will find very informative and interactive.
The “look”, the interactive nature of the site and, its organization are three of the main new features that you will experience immediately as we introduce new portals for our: Existing Clients – the employee and their families, Employers – both existing and prospective customers, and, Advisors.
You can now opt-in for “Aspirations”, the Aspiria newsletter, through our on-line sign-up. You can find out the latest information from the world of health and wellness in our brand new “Off the Wire” section. And, you can keep abreast of any new developments within the Aspiria organization through the “Aspiria News” section.

As a way of giving back to our community, Aspiria is involved in supporting charitable foundations such as the Tourette Syndrome Golf Tournament. We have participated as a sponsor, event coordinator, and volunteer of this tournament for the past 5 years raising funds for children and adults afflicted with Tourette Syndrome. The stigma attached to Tourette Syndrome and its associated disorders like Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Learning Disabilities can be devastating for a child who is trying to integrate at home and school. Through the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada, Aspiria helps with education, awareness and, the promotion of research. Enjoy the short video which provides highlights of this year’s Tourette Golf Tournament.
